| A WORD FROM OUR SATISFIED CLIENTS

"Today is the sixth and final day of phase 1 of the rehabilitation of our sprinkler system, a process which, as all know, will be visited upon all villa residents. I am told that about half of our villas have been rehabbed so far.

Prior to the beginning of our sprinkler redo, we were wondering how this extensive project would impact us during the time that the project was rolling through our residence. We considered covering our furniture and treasured wall hangings with sheets to protect our belongings from potential harm. We turned a rug or two up-side down to protect them. We admit to having been somewhat apprehensive.

It occurs to us now that those who have not had a sprinkler rehab might be interested in our six-day experience which was the period (phase 1) in which the bulk of the rehab took place. The project is tri-partite; phase two is an inspection of the work done and phase three is when those who paint and plaster arrive to repair anything that was damaged during phase 1. In our case, damages were very minor and were mostly created by the installation of slightly smaller diameter ceiling sprinkler heads thereby leaving a very thin ring previously covered by the larger heads.

As workers began on day one, we watched carefully. Lots of drilling and banging, of course. That most of the work is in the attic (in our case) means that you surely “hear” what is going on.

The first chore was to remove the ceiling sprinkler fixtures inside our villa. This process includes going from room to room draining from each head whatever water remained in the piping after the supply to the whole sprinkler system was shut off. Men with ladders and large paint buckets deftly unscrewed the heads and carefully coordinated (while balancing on a ladder) catching the water into their buckets with one hand while unscrewing the heads with the other. You could accurately say that these procedures were a balancing act.

When moving within our villa, the team spread plastic sheets over any area that could possibly be affected by the work they were doing.

The net is that these workers were nothing short of meticulous. At no point did we spot any evidence that they had been in the rooms (all) that they worked in. They were impressively diligent, courteous, friendly and communicative regarding each day’s plan.
